If you can say that you suffer from any of these symptoms, then it is worth it for you to follow up with a doctor to rule-out any thyroid problems.

Whereas suffering from just one of these problems may not be the result of an underactive thyroid gland, suffering from several is concerning for this illness and should be assessed by an adequate professional.

The best way to do this is laid out on this site on its own page, "What to do now?"

Do You Fall Within Any Of These Categories?

1) Do you have a family history of thyroid problems that you are aware of?

2) Do other family members, close or distant, suffer from a variety of the above listed symptoms?

3) Have you ever been pregnant?

4) Are you now, or were you ever, a smoker?

5) Have you been diagnosed with thyroid problems in the past?

6) Do you have a history of miscarriages?

7) Do you currently have, or have you had in the past, problems with your goiter?

If you answered yes to any of the above, then you are at risk of developing problems with your thyroid functioning. If you answered yes to any of these questions AND you are also displaying any of the above listed symptoms of hypothyroidism, then you want to follow up on this immediately with an appropriate physician.

For more information on what you should do next, please refer to the "What To Do Now" page on this site.
